What is the fastest way to sell art that I have inherited?
My grandfather passed away a couple of years ago, leaving behind a storage room full of signed art prints with appraisals from an art gallery he owned years ago. I have tried selling them online on eBay and Craigslist with no luck at all. I have heard that art is very difficult to sell, so I am wondering if there is a way to sell all of the art at once, or maybe even consign it somewhere. I just really don't know how to go about it.
There are several different artists/styles and I am able to pull up information online about the artists.
Your best bet is to work with a local or regional art broker which is the polite term for an art re-seller. Check your yellow pages for art brokers or call a local gallery and ask who does re-sale in your area. Art re-selling is handled very differently then the original sale through a retail gallery, artist's studio or art fair. many who specialize in this get quick and amazing results. Best of luck.
